Assist the Mission San Luis Education Department in creating programming to inform the public of the history of Mission San Luis. Other duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct historical and practical research for museum programming, including special events • Staff public programs and events • Docent historic site tours for guests of all ages and
backgrounds • Maintain neatness and cleanliness in all areas [historic and non-historic] including shared office, kitchen, and living spaces. • As needed, conduct outreach programs, perform first person “Living History” interpretation to the public, participate in museum maintenance projects, and other duties as required.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
• Comfortable with public speaking, and able to give tours to large groups. • Ability to research and communicate effectively [written and oral presentations]. • Must be able to work the weekly hours and have a flexible schedule. • Able to work outdoors and stand for long periods of time. • Maintain a cordial relationship with Mission San Luis staff. Enjoys working as a team to accomplish goals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Applicants being considered for internship will be required to pass a Level 2 Criminal Background screening.
NOTE: Due to Mission San Luis prioritizing the health and safety of the public and our interns, this position might be completed remotely. This would include regular correspondence over email and phone with tasks being completed and delivered via email.
